What is Oktoberfest?
This festival has been celebrated in Munich since 1810 in the months of September and October, and is the most popular in Germany and one of the most recognized in the world.
It all started with the wedding of Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria and Therese of Saxony and Hildburghausen and it was so successful that it has grown steadily to become an event that is imitated in different parts of the world.
The Oktoberfest begins when the Wienswirte (owners of the breweries) arrive at the field known as Theresienwiese (Therese’s Meadow) for the celebration of the popular festival with carts loaded with beer barrels.
The mayor opens the first beer barrel and then there is an incredible and fun parade of traditional Bavarian costumes.
Once all that is done, now it is time to enjoy liters and liters of beer, food, fairground rides, polka dancing, music and lots of fun that you will find at all the festival stands.
